I'm really frustrated because I can barely find info about people hand sewing on the web.

I want to know if anyone has done shirring with elastic thread by hand. I know it can be done, I just can't find anyone who has done it. I also can't find tutorials on it.

I do not want tutorials  or pics of machine sewn shirring.

I REALLY want to shir this skirt (and other dresses) by hand, but I cannot find any techniques, and whenever I search for it, the search engine gives me machine shirred tutorials and images. (machine sewing uses two threads as opposed to one with hand sewing, so its kinda hard to adapt.)

Is anyone a hand-sewer that has done shirring by hand? Do you have any pictures? Do you have any tutorials?
I guess I can figure it out with an immense amount of trial and error, but I'd rather not waste my small supply of elastic thread on something that might not work. D=

My best idea so far is to use the running stitch and just knot it when I reach the end of the fabric, but I worry it won't look neat and nice that way.

FYI, I'm making lolita shirts, skirts, and dresses.

Any help is appreciated!
