Weaving paper obsessed.

Well, I know I've posted woven newspaper baskets before, but now I've got a full set:


But I've really, really taken to this, I've added coasters and fridge mats to that, not pictured, but they're made in the same manner, just flat. They hold together because I stick a sheet of newspaper to the back. Oh, fridge mats: they're put in the bottom of the salad crisper section to stop veggies from sweating against  the plastic.

The other thing I've started doing is making notecards. The woven newspaper makes an unusual background and it only takes a sheet of blank paper glued on to make it card thickness. Oh, yes, you do have to reduce the newspaper strip thickness from 4 layers to one!

What a lovely way to get backgrounds!  Love that you are repurposing/recycling...functional and cute items!  Do you put some sort of sealer on these?  I was wondering if the ink bled.

No, I don't use sealer, but I am choosy about the papers I use: they have to be high quality (the paper, not the news!) which co-incidentaly means the printing is also not the cheap rub off as soon as look at you type.

So our local rag gets used for washing windows and the council newsletter (in newspaper format) turns into weaving material. I've never had visibly dirty hands after weaving, so I guess it's really not coming off easily.

these are so fun, the backgrounds are nifty on the notecards!  I wonder if some old book pages would work for this too....got LOTS of those
