As I mentioned in another post today, I am really on a Disney princess kick these days! I made a large doll of Merida from the movie Brave because I loved it so much. Then I decided to make all the princesses into dolls, which I am still working on. Then I decided to make a tiny pipe-cleaner doll because I was bored and wanted to find a task I could do while watching tv to calm down at night. I had no money so it needed to be cheap. Then I found a tutorial on pipe cleaner dolls and before I knew it I had a tiny Merida doll!

From there, I decided to make Rapunzel because I just recently discovered that movie too and I love it. I made Tinkerbell for my mom and I plan to make many more- not just of Disney but everything I like and some original designs and characters too. They are about 4 inches in height not including all the massive hair on these little dollies! I hope you like them. Smiley

All three so far:

Merida:

Rapunzel:

Tinkerbell:

Thanks for looking! Smiley

I had my mom hold all three to give an idea of size again. Smiley

Thank you! I finally found my own style with faces so it's been fun developing personalities for my dolls with a different face each time! Smiley

Thanks, super_crayola! I can't find the original tutorial I used, but this one is almost identical. If you just google the term you can find multiple ones. Smiley

Its been years since I've made pipe cleaner dolls (we called them bendy dolls).  Yours are just awesome!!!  What sized bead did you use for the head, it looks bigger than the any that I used.  When I made mine, I used embroidery floss for hair, but I love the look of the yarn with the bigger head.  I love the faces that you came up with too.

Oh and there is a great book on the subject called Felt Wee Folk by Salley Mavor.  She has patterns for clothes and how to make 5 different sized dolls.  She uses wool roving for hair. She also uses acorn caps for hats alot.

I actually pulled out some of my supplies to start doing some of these for Halloween just the other day.  I've made mummies before using baby yarn instead of the embroidery floss.

I just love bendy dolls.

Thank you! I am not sure what size the beads are but I found them at Joann's and then I found a whole container at a thrift store. I like big heads, it's part of my personal style. Smiley I am looking forward to making Halloween ones for my town's October Fest!

Super cute!

Thanks!

Hi! I looked at the guide for pipe-cleaner dolls (the one on Ehow) and it says you can use a wooden bead or wooden ball. Which one are you using? Also, did you draw the eyes or paint them? I'm going to make Tiana from Princess and the Frog, and Merida for my best friend and cousin whos 3. She will love them! Grin

I'm obsessed with all your Disney creations! Especially the Merida as I feel she's undervalued and her hair looks fierce! The use of flowers on Rapunzel's hair is also lovely
