Hi again everyone!

I wanted to share my second embroidery with you all. I am very excited about all of the possibilities with embroidery, since I have been doing basically only cross stitch my entire life. I still need to get a good pattern fabric pen, so I just freehanded this portrait of my cat Gato. Yes, his name really is Gato (lonnggg story) but when he's feeling fancy (or because he's gotten quite tubby over the years...) then he goes by Gateau.




My satin stitch isn't so great but I can't wait to keep working on it!

This is really good.  I've only done cross stitching until recently myself.  Good job on your first attempt branching out.  You did great!

ha ha ha Very funny and cute...it is easy for cats to be confused for cakes when they get all round and fat... He is a handsome boy and your stitching is fine...can't wait to see more of your amusing designs!

With regard to fabric pencils, I'd recommend the sewline fabric pencil - http://www.sewline-product.com/ it's a lovely retractable pencil that is perfect for embroidery as it runs smoothly along the fabric, not skipping like graphite ones, and the line is very clean, it doesn't colour the threads if you stitch through a line. I've had mine for about 6 months and I love it!
