I'm not sure if ear pins is the proper term, but here are two I've made recently. Just some wire, used my pliers, and a bit of patience and I have these fun word earrings.

I think my wire-handwriting is much better than my real life handwriting. About the wire, I think as long as you're using wire that's for crafting with jewelry, you're safe. Unless they have allergies to certain types of metals. These are just wire I have in my stash, and I've already worn them loads of times, and I haven't had any reactions to them
