i saw this on pinterest and had to try it
glue crayons on a canvas and melt them with a glue gun
this is my 1st try, i masked off and area to draw in after melting the crayons. the melted wax bled under the tape so i remelted it to cover that area

the secret is knowing when to stop and i think i melted this one too much. also the crayons melt better with the labels on, the labels hold in the melted wax and you get a better "drip" look. some of the crayon labels were just empty tubes when i finished the blue one.  Roll Eyes

this is my 2nd try i like it much better  Cheesy
here is it right after melting the crayons

this is after turning it upside down and glueing on ribbon roses that i made, the small ribbon roses were premade.

There are a number of melted crayon art posts on Craftster but I've never seen the idea of turning it over and adding flowers - great idea!!

They are all nifty, but I've never seen one like the rose one. Nice!

I agree that the roses are a really cool touch.

For the record, though, I like the blue one too.

I was scrolling through thinking "ugh, another melted crayon art piece" but then I saw how you actually USED the melted crayon to make an image and it such a refresher. You could use the same concept and make a series of melted crayon images.

thank you everyone Cheesy but i can't take credit for the idea of turning it over and adding flowers, i saw one on pinterest but they used silk flowers. i like roses better.
it was fun and easy to make and not as messy as i thought it would be. i did this in my craft room with a lid to a cardboard box under the canvas to catch any drips. it is just important to keep the heated air away from the dripping crayon tips so it drips naturally.
