Anne, I bought the el cheapo solar lights on a stake that you piush into the ground---Wal-Mart.  It was the smallest I could find & only cost a few dollars.  I don't know if it's possible to buy just the solar panel.  The stake detaches & the globe will come off too if you twist the top slightly.  This leaves you with a disk shaped piece---like a hockey puck.  This is the solar panel.  The little square on top must be exposed to the light to charge it.  The dome in mine has a large hole in it that allows the entire square to be exposed.  I just glued it to the underside of the dome with E6000.

I have another dome I want to try but don't know if I can use the solar light in it.  It has a much smaller hole so I'll have to experiment to see if the battery will charge if the square is under the glass---it's a creamy frosted glass.  If it won't work, I might try mounting the disk on the top of the dome even tho it won't look as good.  In this instance, as well as in the one here, I won't be able to change the battery when it wears out.  I think it will still be an acceptable garden piece even without the light.
