We moved into a new house last year and now that we've finished unpacking and settling in, we're trying to add in some personality.

My new favorite project is these fun light switch plates- they are quick and easy to make, and I keep finding more designs that I want to use- all these came from the used book store or thrift store- so each plate cost about $1-$2 to make.

I use the technique from this tutorial, which I like better than the modge-podge ones I tried before:

Here are some of the ones I've done so far:

This is my first set, made from national geographic magazines and an old monster move magazine:

The flowers are from a "Flowers of Western Australia" calendar- the animals are from an Inuit Art calendar- the bear is from a birthday card- and the body parts (my favorite!) are from an old copy of Grey's Anatomy:

These are my most recent- I picked up some old comic books and children's books which have great pictures at just the right size:

Can't wait to try some more- but I'm going to run out of light switches pretty soon. Guess what everyone I know is getting for Christmas?  Wink

I made a new one! This one is from a book on the art of Chinese Firework advertisements. (Go used book store!)

These are so much better looking than the plain plates, I really like them all.
