Just wrapped up this sampler today, been working on it for about a week.  It's one strand of DMC floss on 14 count oatmeal colored aida.  Motifs borrowed from some antique sampler patterns.  It shows myself and my roommate with the name I coined for our apartment (also the name of our wireless internet SSID).  Our tiny dog is pictured next to the house.

The poem and the signature line are typical in antique samplers.  Usually the signature line would say something like "Abigail Goodwife her work aged 9" so I find it the acme of hilarity for it to say "HIS work aged 31."

That is such a great idea to put the wireless password on there! I'm gonna have to do that...

Very nice.  I particularly like the thread colours you chose.  They look authentic for the style and period of your antique motifs.

Thanks! I choose my colors with an eye for antique-y hues. I think the green came out too bright in this one. I think it's DMC 703, shoulda gone with a darker forest green or olive color. The brown is 434, the red is 815 I think, the blue is 931 and the gold is 783.  Choosing an oatmeal aida helps give an aged look too.
