This is my first Craftster post so please bear with me  Shocked

What do you get when you mix plastic spoons, a candle, and an imagination?  You come up with plastic spoon roses!

I'm getting married next June (date is set, venue is reserved!).  The "theme" I guess you could call it, is a mix of rainbow and guitars.  I'm a huge rainbow fanatic and my fiance is a guitar knob.  My dress is hopefully going to have a streak of rainbow on it, but to go along with it is my bouquet.  I originally made flowers from ribbons and created a bouquet from those, but I didn't like the way it looked.

Then I heard about how you can make flowers out of plastic spoons by melting them.  This knowledge plus seeing the rainbow assortment of plastic spoons when I went shopping had me thinking that was the answer!

After a few nights of melting and glueing, I have finally completed the start to my bouquet.  It's not 100% done, but I wanted to share it because I am so excited!  I am trying to make my wedding as DIY as possible and this was a huge accomplishment in that regard.

Still learning on how to get the pictures to post, but I uploaded them to the photo sharing gallery (the link is below).

That's really clever. Though I would like to ask, do you have any pictures of a single spoon rose? I'd like to see the look of a single one.

I like that it's such a mix of rainbow colors & that the plastic-y nature of it reminds me of guitar picks. Smiley

This is cool - nice, bright colors. Just a thought for you - instead of using candles, how about using a heat gun? You may need fabric gloves to handle the spoons when they're hot, but it may be safer than candles . . . just a thought.

What a super awesome idea!!! Now I want to see a wedding pic with your boquet and dress!!! I love Rainbows also. The spoon flowers looks really neat and they do remind of guitar pics that an early reader posted about.

Best of luck!!!!

This is amazing, it reminds me of the Chihuly glass garden I visited in Seattle.
