@ AntBee, Everytime I see that pumpkin it makes me smile!  I can just picture a hospital nursery as the cutest pumpkin patch.  And nargles are always stealing my scissors too.....and rulers, and row counter, and socks, and stitch markers....

@pottermouth, awwwww...future Gryffindor babe!  Such a sweet hat, I adore the crochet cables.

S.P.E.W. project number 2, Baby Moccasins. However, this is exactly why drinking (a little) and knitting do not mix. I'll have to frog the top portion of one bootie and add two rows of cream then add the cuff, with one less row. Again. Oh well, my cocktail was delicious.

*my cocktail was enjoyed on Saturday evening, at a very respectable hour, sans kids! just to clarify...

For the Quidditch challenge I knitted a hat and donated 2 scarves to a local charity StandUp for Kids. They work with homeless teens, and provide them with many resources including winter clothing. As a teen librarian I've worked with homeless teens previously. Normally the teens are encountering abuse at home, or get kicked out for not following rules about curfew, who to date, or grades. Some couch surf at friends, but each has spent a night or two on the street. My heart goes out to them so I made some items I know the teens that frequently attend my program would enjoy.

While I made them my teens asked me what I was doing, so I got to share with them why I was doing it, and some of them want to try and make scarves for the charity.

They sent me a thank you email:

I was able to pick up your donation to StandUp for Kids this past Friday and it is very much appreciated.  Your contribution will help a child stay a little warmer this coming winter.

SPEW project number 3, Slubbed Gnome Hat, was a quick knit. That's why baby items are great for me. They can be finished pretty quickly and I can move on. The longest project I have ever done was a Harry Potter Portrait Square and that was only finished because everyone here had been sick and incapacitated. Poor Snape is still shoved in a bag, waiting to be finished!

Aww, thanks! My Mom runs a home Day Care and every time there's a new baby I make one of these and it cracks me up.  I would love to see a nusery of bassinets with pun'kins peeking out. cutie-patooties.

...And as for the Nargles, well, at least they aren't garden gnomes!

These are some really beautiful projects on here, and the various causes listed are simply awesome. The pumpkin hat is adorable. As for myself, I definately want to talk to my mom about making some fleece tied pet beds/blankets for our local animal shelters. We made one together for my aunt and uncle a Christmas or two ago and it was a fun project so is thinking this would be a great thing to do around the holidays. Also, the Blessing Bags and Caitlin's Smiles projects are both very intriguing.
