For my local nursing home, I crochet slippers, lapghans/wheelchair ghans, and gather small items (combs, brushes, magazines, lip balm, etc.).  Then create welcome baskets and holiday baskets from these items.  I first was alerted of their needs by a holiday collection done by my son's school.

I find the Oma House Slippers quick&easy to make, and they are well received by the patients.  These are not good for walking patients since they are slippery (puffy paint on bottom could be used to make it less slippery).

PATTERN USED: Oma House Slippers
YARN USED: Loops & Threads Impeccable Ombre, Colorway Ginseng

I'm on it! Going to be crafting for the babies (hats, booties, socks) as well as hats for the homeless in my area.

I'm so sorry I missed this before.

Excited for the new semester to start.

After researching what charity to do for the Quidditch challenge I was torn between making hats for premies, South African Aids orphans or the homeless. Ultimately I decided to donate to a local organization that helps teenage homeless, a group that is near and dear to my heart.

I still want to make squares or hats for babies.

Strangely I just picked up a massive yarn haul at Goodwill. I got 20 balls of yarn for $10!
I didn't know they sold yarn before yesterday. What a bargin. I'd love to use some of it to make charity items.

Hi guys!

I'm in!  I will be splitting crafting time between S.P.E.W and family birthday and Christmas gifts, so we'll see how many I can get done.  I wanted to "Go to Hogwarts" for the fall semester, but I am not sure I'm ready for such a huge swap as my first one ever.  So, I'll at least get to play here, maybe see you in Hogsmeade!

PS- I see we are sharing our Keeper projects here for the opening act.  Here is the wee premie/newborn hat that I made for donation (Tat long end was cut and woven in once the Nargles returned my scissors. Little tricksters.:

I sent socks to Katara in South Africa for the Sock Monkey project already - I saw the tag line on her profile and sent her a PM. I got a great deal of 6 pairs of men's socks at Ross or Marshall's and the postage was about $8. to send to her.

But the Blessings Bags seem like something I could do - I live in San Francisco and see a lot of street folks.
And I am a pedestrian so I can carry one or two with me and hand out during my excursions.

Thanks for this, pinkleo.

I immediately jumped on board with Project Linus. I had made a baby blanket for my neighbor's little girl but before I could give it to her, she moved away. So I've kept the darn thing for about 2 years now and all my family seems to be producing are baby boys Roll Eyes So I'm sending them the baby quilt. It'll be one of many I believe -^^-

@IsikkahJai: Again, LOVE the blankie!  And I must tell you that my daughter loves your avatar; she quotes Fluttershy each time she sees it!  (Yes, we are a MLP household...with Pegasisters & Bronies Cool)

I have added new links to our charity list.  Let me know if you have a link or local way to donate that you would like to add.  Also, special robes for S.P.E.W. members have arrive from Madam Malkin's; feel free to pick one up.  And even more robes coming soon! Grin

I've dug out some yarn oddballs and have decided to hook up some squares for Knit A Square while watching the closing ceremonies of the Olympics.  Off to grab a beer & hook! (Hey, there is nothing wrong with a bit of tipsy hooking. Wink
