WideEyedLife's Random Gallery of UnPosted (by Herself) ATCs!

Here's a new gallery of my latest hand-drawn ATCs for everyone's perusal!  Just for jollies, of course.  Though I'd love to get feedback about favorites (or lack there-of!  lol)

Most of these are in the hands of the amazing ATC swappers on this site (thanks, everyone, for getting me addicted to these little hand-made treasures!).  But some have never been seen before.  (Woo-hoo!)(So, to those ATC swap followers who have already seen most of these pieces, look for "Breathless," "Slightly Off-Balance," "Between the Sheets," "Cinderella," "Squee!," "Yee-HAW, Christmas," and "Eyes" for something new.   Cheesy)

Here goes nothing!:   Grin

"Eyes"
Prismacolor Pencil

"Cinderella"

"Squee!"

"Slightly Off-Balance"

"Shamrock"

"Peeping Wizard"

"Breathless"

"King of the String"

"Far, Far Away"

"Howie the Owlie: Born this way"

"Yee-HAW, Christmas!"

"Waves"

"The Princess (and the Pea)"
Sharpie and Prismacolor Pencil

"Freddy"
Prismacolor Pencil

"Happy Happy Joy Joy"
Prismacolor Pencil

"Fatima"

"Fishies"
Xacto cut-out and magazine strips

"Daydreaming"

"Circle Man"

"Between the Sheets"
Prismacolor Pencil

"Before the Storm"
Prismacolor Pencil

"Aristocrat"
Prismacolor Pencils

"A Broken Nobody Can Fix"
Prismacolor Pencil, collage

So, I've been out of the ATC swaps for a while.  ATC-ed myself out with all these little pieces of art.  But I'm thinking, now that it's been months, that I'm about ready to swing into the 2.5 by 3 mood again.

As always, comments or criticism is welcome.  And I'd love to know if you have any favorites.    Smiley

Wow. I'm a little blown away over here. I love to draw, but i never have been able to use colored pencils (or anything, really) to enhance my drawings. I admire anyone who can do what you do.So I'll just sit here in awe of your skills.

Can i knit you something in seed stitch? I'd love to swap you for: handspun yarn, hand carved banana stamp...

i love the turtle and the kitten, getting the blend of colors to make them 3 dimensional isn't easy

for portraits i tend to use the paper for the middle tone, then add shadow and white highlights

I have for sure found a problem with color layering using the colored pencil.  Especially when I've layered several colors together for the skin.  Some of those problems are over-emphasized with the scanning/photographs and look better in real life.

I appreciate your tip about using the medium-toned paper.  When I'm rich again, or my current stash of paper runs out, I'll buy a stash that has tones more matched to skin tones for my background, just to try it.  Smiley

I've read in some really uber-atc-oriented sites that color pencil, even prismacolor, isn't as accepted a medium as paint, and perhaps that's because the colors aren't as evenly blended?  So far, my one attempt at painting an ATC sucked---but I'm gonna keep on trying---not because of what "official" atc-ers say about Pencil, but because I've never painted before, and want to learn.  Smiley

Thanks for your comments and criticism, for sure!  I know my ATCs have SO much to improve on!   Cheesy

I like Cinderella, King of the String, and The Princess (and the pea) best.
Cinderella I love because of her expression and you did the teeth great. They can be so tricky and you did it flawlessly and at such a tiny scale.
King of String, what can I say. It's a cat. LOL! I love cats but can not draw one to save my life! Very cute.
And I really love the sketchy and free feeling of the Princess (and the pea).
 All are magnificent! Amazing job!

Craftsterers aren't stuffy.  Here it's not about meeting some pre-formed idea or specific guideline or rule, but about doing our best, using the tools we want, learning new skills, and improving.  That's why I love it here!  I'm not intimidated because people aren't judgmental!  Smiley

These are all so great!  I really love the realistic ones over the cartoony ones, but that's just my taste.  I've been meaning to try making ATC's for a while, mostly because of inspiring pieces like yours!
