Hi everyone! I am new here, and this is my first post!

This is one of my more recent pieces, I started it April 16, 2012 and finished it on July 20, 2012. I had been wanting to do a reproduction of this piece since 2006ish but it took a few years to perfect the stitches I ultimately used here. I wanted to form smooth curves and lines with cross stitch without using a backstitch. I used some french knots to create the dotted look in two spots, and used a small amount of back stitch in two other spots but the vast majority of all the stitches are cross stitches and variations on the cross stitch. I am so happy with the way it turned out! it is about 9"x12"

here's a really bad side by side comparison of the original and mine

some close ups:

Thank you for looking!!

I think you did a great job of transfering the painting to the needlepoint structure. It was definitely a challenge. What's your next goal?

Kandinsky is a favorite of mine, too.  You did a terrific job on this! Cheesy

Beautiful and well done for doing it all in cross stitch. I would not have thought it possible with this design.

beautiful, great detailed work.  Did you frame it?
I think Kandinsky could be a great source of more inspiration too.

Thank you, i worked really hard to try to maintain even the textures of his brush strokes the best i could. I'm not sure what is coming up next. i was thinking of starting a new series of portraits but not sure!

Thank you! I was so surprised with how quickly finished it too, but I have to credit quitting smoking the day I started it, so I think I worked at a frantic pace to keep myself busy and away from that nastiness! haha.
