So I was bored one day and wanted to make a bow tie, I looked all over for patterns on making one, but all I could find were patterns for pre-tied bow ties, and where's the fun in that! So I made my own Smiley

I hope you guys like it. You can get the free pattern here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/crocheted-bow-tie-2

hmmm, nifty!   Cheesy

I bet this would look super nice in a satin-y black crochet cotton - a bit more work with thinner "yarn", but I bet then you could wear it to a black tie "do" without attracting too much attention - until people got close up, that is.   Wink

It looks very elegant! I especially like the first picture when it's untied. I don't think it has to hide the fact that it's crocheted. There are so many great yarns to try this with...

Ruby, I didn't mean it should "hide" it, I just really love those "aha!" moments when someone realises something is not what they thought it was, and is actually something completely unexpected.  Wink

Such a cool pattern! Thank you so much for sharing!  I've already made one in purple for a friend and I'm planning on making some more.
A great gift for guy friends.  Smiley

Love it!  Such a cool idea to crochet a bow tie.  Thanks for the pattern.  I have plenty of guy friends who would get a kick out of this.  Storing away for their next birthdays!
