I'm so jealous of your canning and growing abilities!

We tried to grow our own cucumbers this year but our vines were attacked by aphids. I had no idea how to combat them and they killed all my little baby cucumbers. I was really looking forward to pickling too.

I may just have to pick up some cucumbers at the store and try out your recipe anyways!

You might want to consider neem oil next year to control aphids.  It's a plant based bug repellent used in organic farming.  Lowes carries it.  Good luck!

Yay pickles! I just got some baby cucumbers at the farmer's market...might want to try it. Think I could just bypass the canning part and stick them in the fridge for the 2 weeks?

It should work to use the same brine recipe and ingredients.  I just suggest you look up a refrigerator pickle recipe to see how the pickling process differs.  I may try that myself.  Good luck!

Oooh! I love canning and have been looking for a good pickle recipe! I have a sani rinse option on my dishwasher and use that to sterilize my jars because a) I am lazy and b) I don't have enough pots. lol. I'm still alive after eating food out of my dishwasher sterilized jars! Thanks for the recipe!

Missing Willow showed me how to can last Tuesday. It is so much easier than I thought. I had a blast and got some beautifully canned tomatoes to show for it! Thanks MW!  Kiss

I love pickles. It`s great that you grow most of the ingredients yourself.

Well I made 7 jars of pickles today! All the jars have popped and now I'm just waiting for them to cool so they can go in my "cellar"...its really just a cabinet, I just like to pretend I'm fancy. lol.
