Have I ever mentioned I'm cheap? I am. Really cheap. I love a good deal. I refuse to pay full price for ANYTHING. This is especially true for Michael's because I think their prices are ridiculous. Whenever I go there I check that aisle with all the wooden things and scoop up just about everything under $1.50. Just after Christmas I bought a whole slew of these little wooden cages on wheels... I guess it was a circus train thing or something. Anyway, I knew I wanted to make gypsy wagons with them and had the perfect opportunity to do so when alphastamps.com sent a bunch of gypsy themed goodies my way.

Here's the completed, transformed wagon....

The little stairs were left over from one of the 'wee houses' I've made.

Inside is all set up for a little fortune teller to divine the future.

A marble crystal ball, a palmistry hand, a wheel of fortune, herbs, tarot cards... there's a whole lot in that little wagon.

I'm always mesmerized by the tiny little things you make.

You always seem to have the right collection of little trinkets to make it come to life too. In my head you just have boxes and boxes of little tiny flim flams and whatnots. lol

The palmistry hand in the glass case is especially cool. Did you make it or was it a totally awesome find?

For the palmistry hand, I used a new glass dome (found here) and then put a small dolls hand that I had painted inside. I'm blessed to have people that pass along loads of neat little things like skads of doll arms (I'm looking at you Wulf and crafylittlemonkey!).

Awesome! Such a neat idea. I'm with you on being cheap, I bought about 8 of these while they were marked down also.  Cheesy I was planning on doing a few like a circus train but didn't know what to do with the others. I don't think mine will turn out as good but I think I may have to try to do one like this.

This is lovely.  I hope we get to see some of the others when you get around to doing them.

Oh man, so cute as usual. Your posts about the Michael's cheapies have inspired me to go there and search when I feel like shopping, but I don't think my Michael's has great deals like yours! Sad I'll try the wood aisle instead of the dollar/clearance aisle next time...

Hints for shopping on the cheap at Michael's:
- Go AFTER holidays. The second week after a holiday you'll get huge discounts
- Check out the wood-thing-a-ma-bob aisle (especially the bottom shelf)
- Check out the ends of all aisles. A lot of clearance stuff is placed there.
- Don't be afraid to ask for a price check. The framing department usually isn't as busy as the front cash and they've always been happy to scan the zillion things I ask them to. Some items could be 33 cents while something virtually identical is $1.50. No way am I paying 4x's what I have to!
- ALWAYS, always, always take a coupon. There is usually one every week for between 20-40% off. There's even an app for your phone so you can just show the cashier that to save.
- If something is insanely cheap, buy it all. Worst case scenario the kids have something to do on a rainy day.

Thank you for enabling my hoarding!   I was hoarding a bunch of wooden hutches, and just started doing stuff with them so I thought I would go get some more, and of course, now I can't find them :/    I don't know if I've ever seen the wagon you used- or maybe you just spiffed it up enough that I wouldn't recognize it Smiley  I do have my eye on a big wooden castle that is priced at $30, and debating if I should try to wait til I've knocked a few more projects out, or just use the 40% coupon and get it now to add to my stockpile.....

As always, I am super envious of your little-things creativity!

I adore the marble as a crystal ball!  The whole thing's just too sweet for words.  The detail's lovely.
