Swap! Round 6
We know it's early, but it's never too soon to start thinking of holiday gifts! This the place to help your fellow Craftster narrow down their holiday gift lists. This swap welcomes every winter holiday including
Christmas
,
Hanukah/Chanukah
,
Kwanzaa
,
Winter Solstice
, etc. If you want a handmade holiday for your friends and family, this is the place to get help on your list. From grandma to your own kids, your lists can include almost anyone in your life that you might need a little help crafting for - even yourself!. Please read through this initial post carefully before joining and PM me with any questions.
How it works:
This swap will work in an ongoing format. The first person in the swap will post a list of handmade items that they would like. The participants then look through the list and if they can fulfill that particular wish, they claim that person for that item and post their own list for the next person to claim them. This works like a chain. Person A is claimed by Person B, Person B is claimed by Person C, etc. You must claim to be claimed and only one person can claim another at a time.
Each FOC can have up to 3 outstanding claims at a time. A non-FOC craftster gets two claims at a time. A new swapper can have 1 claim at a time. Once one of your claim is received and the organizer is notified, you may claim again.
What is on the list:
Each participant can post as many size “medium” requests as they would like in their list. Please try to post a minimum of 10 items you would like so there is a variety and a better chance of not stalling the swap. You may post larges or smalls as well, but please realize that to fulfill the swap requirements, you are only required to claim and send a medium. This swap will be for handmade items only. Organizing your list by crafting medium is a good idea to help other participants find something on your list that they are good at, but is not required. Please note that because these are holiday wishes we are filling, items should be your absolute best quality.
How to make your list:
Please format your list to have an introduction that lets us know a little more about you, such as your name, your general location, etc. Please format your wishes so that each participant has a clear idea as to what you are looking for. Posting links is highly advisable. It is also a great idea to provide participants with as much relevant information on the gift recipient as possible. Here is my suggested way for formatting each wish:
<item> <recipient> <preferences> <link>
<allergies>
Example:
Doll dress for my daughter. She prefers pink floral fabric with a velcro or button closure. Here is one she likes
http://URL
GOES HERE
Allergies: Smoke
Including allergies right underneath of each wish keeps the allergies in focus. This is such an important part to consider when claiming someone. If you format your wishes like this, they will be clear and you are more likely to be claimed quickly.
Making a claim:
Once you make a claim, you must PM the participant that you are claiming for their address and to discuss the item you have claimed to make for them. Once you make a claim, you are committed to making that item. Remember, you only have two weeks to complete the item and ship it. If you choose to send extras, they do not contribute to the size of the claim. A medium is technically either between 2-3 hours in time, or $20-$30 in supplies/value. To claim the person who is currently available, respond to their post with “I claim <username> for <item claimed for>. For example, if I were to claim myself to make socks, I would write, “I claim kaz814 for a hoopla.” Within that same response, you then post your own list so someone can claim you.
Send Outs:
Just like other ongoing swaps, you will have two weeks from the date of your claim to send out your item. There are no exceptions. DC#s will be absolutely required. If you do not provide a DC#, it will be noted in your feedback. If you do not provide a DC# and your package gets lost, you will be required to resend.
You must PM the organizers with the DC#/customs# when you send!
Qualifications to Join:
Anyone is free to join under standard Craftster Swap Guidelines. Due to the time constraints on claims, I reserve the right to deny any Craftster that has a history of lateness.
Receiving packages:
Please PM me as soon as you receive each package.
This is so I can keep track of claims. Pictures in the gallery are also appreciated. Some of your fulfilled wishes might inspire other wishes for other participants.
Other important info:
You do not have to message me when you claim a person. You only have to message them for their address. Please PM me however when you send your questionnaire, when you send your claim, and when you receive a claim with the title: OHLS 5: questionnaire, OHLS 5: sent!, etc. Also, Please PM me with any questions you have.
Please do not claim a person until you have been approved for this swap and it is listed in your profile!
Please do not claim a person once one of your claims has been received until the person receiving from you verifies your package arrived and is exactly what you claimed them for. (Unless you have open claim spots, of course!)
Sometimes, a person's list will “stall” the swap. When your list has been up for more than 18-24 hours without someone claiming you, please try to add more items to your list so you have a better chance of being claimed. Remember that it is possible that not all of your items will be claimed.
There will be a discussion/gallery thread in the “Gallery” area. This is an area to give us updates and discuss this swap.
At the end of the month, whoever is the last on the list will be first on the list for the following month/or the organizer (me!) will be the ending claimer. You will have to sign up for each additional round that you choose to participate in. You must be current in the previous round to be accepted to the new round.
This swap is open to international swappers, as well as new swappers.
I reserve the right to deny participation to anyone who is late in previous rounds of this swap. This is a holiday swap and should be fun!
If you want to participate, here is the information to send to the organizer. Please have the title of your PM be the name of the swap.

With these, girls, they NEED to have different colors.) You could do the whole unicorn this colors or white with mane and tails of these colors, however you’d like as long as they are visibly different from each other in the eyes of little girls ranging from 1-6. Lol.
Soy or beeswax candles for the women in the family --We are fond of “warmer” smells such as coffee, chocolate, apple pie, cinnamon, vanilla..

Hello, I am Beth and I live in Michigan. This is one of my favorite swaps and I look forward to making and getting all sorts of goodies. I have a greyhound named Hallo and have just recently started canning. You know, cause I needed to get involved with another hobby/project
. I have been also making soap, bath bombs and scrubs and trying to learn some new sewing techniques.
KIDDIES (not mine)
Apron for 3 year old girl
Reusable plastic cups with the kids names (Eli, Violet, Caleb, Sophie)
crayon roll (girl)
stuffies/amigurumi (however you spell it!)(girl ones)
PALS
Car reusable garbage bags (waterproof if possible) for men or women. No set number as everyone could use one of these.
Scented sachets for drawers or closets
Recipe organizer (book, box, whatever!) for one of my best pals. She loves purple, flowers, decorative prints
Something (makeup bag/wall art/journal, hoopla etc., pick anything) with a pal’s name and meaning on it. Her name is unusual so I think she would really like that. Her name means one word (hello) so it is not something long and elaborate. She loves nature and is into her heritage which is Native American. Bonus points of you can guess the name before I tell you!
NEW gnome ornaments could be felt as shown or crochet/knit

Boy themed frames for my nieces- they both have boys (Caleb & Eli)
Bathroom kit bags for the guys- Something to put their items (razor, toothbrush, etc.) in when traveling.
Mom (step)-patriotic themed organizer/bag for her car. (one of those reusable garbage bags that hang from seat or velcro on)
http://pinterest.com/pin/33917803414317250/

I claim sweetyetevil for plastic bag holders!
1/0/0 This is my first claim for this swap!
Hello! I’m Laura from Pennsylvania. I graduated college in May and am currently thinking ahead to the holiday season where I’ll just start paying back student loans and be flat broke! Uh-oh! I’m so glad this swap exists! I currently don’t have a job, but I hope to soon be employed as an English teacher or at least a substitute teacher!
I live in the countryside with my family and our dog, garden, and farm animals. We have a large plot of property that we hike and hunt on, as well as keep a huge garden. I’ve always told myself that the winter after I graduate college I will make sure that I get each and every one of my family members a proper gift from me. So that’s what I aim to do this year. Thanks for the claim!
Preferred claims are in

I claim cloud_berry for crayons (are any of you surprised?)
1/0/0
I live in Iowa with my boyfriend (of 8 years) and our small Multipoo dog named sissy.
Blue
= Big Wish
Orange
= New this post
Purple
= New last post
We have 3 main “groups” we give Christmas gifts to. One is a people around town that we give gift bags too. The second is distant relatives or people we know too well for the gift bags. The third is immediate family. I could use help with this year. I have no clue what to get the first 2 groups so you could make anything you wanted. The only thing you should keep in mind that most are couples and most are senior aged. I made a board on
pintrest
with some ideas. They are just to give you ideas; you don’t need to make something on the board if you have a different idea. I also have a
board
for the 3rd group. Again, that is just for inspiration; you can make anything you think they would like.
-
Tiny gift(s)
The “tiny” ones are people around town (the first group). Usually I pick up all 8-10 of them for around $20 (just to give you an idea on value). This is like the mail man and the trash guy. It is okay if they are really tiny. I am going to leave them on my list and make little goodies bags. Maybe
ornaments
, snack bags, cooking mixes, magnets, hot coco mixes, chocolate dipped spoons, magnetic clothespins,
altered clothes pin magnets,
finger hot pads
, alerted notebooks, bookmarks…. Really, anything you can think of. I am horrible at coming up with ideas. You don’t need to claim all 10. Just claim how ever many you want to meet the swap requirements, or “mix-and-match” with other things on my list.
-
Small gift(s)
(the second group) Usually we spend around $10-$20 each on these. We will send 4 of these this year. I don’t actually know any of these people, as they are distance relatives of my boyfriend’s or his ex (he got along well with her family well, and likes to send them something small). 2 are couples, 2 are single (1 women, 1 man). All are seniors or near it, with no kids in the house. If you like things more spelled out, here it is:
Small gift A
Our Neighbors. Married couple. In their 60’s. He is in a wheel chair.
Small gift B
Male, Single. In his 50’s In a band. Loves anything related to music and comics. Likes old 30’s and 40’s cars.
Small gift C
Female, single. 55 years old.
Small gift D
Bf’s ex-parent-in-laws. Married. In their 70’s (or so). He is a retired fireman.
Some ideas are cookie mix in a jar, coffee mixes and anything else
My boyfriend’s Grandkids
Perhaps someone likes making gifts for kids? You could make anything you would like.
My boyfriend has 4 kids (all grown). 2 are married with kids. One has 1 boy (age 7) and 1 girl (age 3). The other has 2 boys (ages 8 and 2). We could use some gifts for the grandkids (don’t worry about the “kids”, they like cash
We just need gifts for the grandkids.)
Some ideas:
- Maybe something like
this
for the youngest boy?
-
Checker Board
Any medium (sewn, knit, crochet, etc). I would like to get 2, they don't need to be done by the same person.
-
Surprise Snowball(s)
Like
this
-
Game Controler Pillow
playstaion
or

-
Pillow fight weapons

Anything!
My Parents
My dad is disabled. Some days he is in so much pain he can’t leave his bed. Other days are better. His favorite things are going to breakfast and his dog Rosita. Rosita is great for him. When he has bad days she will lay next to him all day. Other days, she is great at getting him out of the house. She loves playing ball and car rides. So a great day for dad is taking Rosita to sonic for breakfast. She is like his child. He used to have pictures of me all over his computer and phone. They have since been replaced with pictures of her
He spends a lot of time reading (especially when he can’t get out of bed). He reads suspense and crime novels and can read a book or 2 a night. He is trying to get more active (when he can), so he swims at the community pool and has started playing pickleball. He pretty much likes any colors (well, he won’t wear pink) and anything. He isn’t picky. He has no allergies but he is diabetic.
Mom is allergic to wool (it is fine if dad gets something with wool in it, she has to be close to notice it, like a blanket or a scarf). Her favorite color is blue. There isn’t any color she dislikes. She also loves Rosita, but her “baby” is her dog Maxie (a boy). She spends most of the time working. She just started sewing and tries to spend every minute she can find sewing. She is a natural at it. She never had a hobby before, so I think this is good from her.

NEW!
Detroit Lions Stocking
-
NEW!
Detroit Lions Bag
-
Detroit Lions Vest
I would love a Lions vest for my dad. He wears a xxl. If you have an idea or something else Detroit Lions themed, that would be great too. It shouldn’t take too much fabric, as it doesn’t need arms.
-
Anything Detroit Lions themed
for my dad.
-
3x Shirts for Dad
Doesn’t matter if they are sewn, stenciled, painted or anything else. He likes shirts. Any type or style. I haven’t seen a shirt he doesn’t like. Shirts in his size are expensive and they don’t have much money so he usually gets his shirts from the bargain rack from walmart (when he can find them, which isn’t often). It is always the shirts no one else would wear and he loves them. He has an unusual sense of humor. His favorite was just a basic shirt that said “I am Hip Hop” he found for $3. He loved that shirt. If you want themes, some would be: Detroit lions, the zia symbol, Bob Marley, his dog, humorous sayings. Don’t feel you need to go by those themes. He would love anything! Those are just what I could think of. Don’t let them limit you.
-
Slippers
For my dad. He wears a 9 ½ in US men’s. Any style. He could really use them. He can’t feel his feet so sometimes he steps on things around the house (like goat heads) without realizing it. Even a thin barrier would make a big difference.
-
Stickers With “Bob V.” on them
For my dad. He puts them on his diabetic tracking sheets. I think it is his way to make a negative thing a bit more fun. And it makes the nurses smile. They should have some sort of picture (sponge bob?) and “Bob V”. They could be done by hand. Or this would be good for someone with some computer skills and Avery type labels.
-
Stenciled/etched wine glasses
They get their wine glasses from the dollar store. They work fine but are a bit plain. So maybe some can make glasses with a design on them?
Thanks TroubleT!
-
Stenciled/etched beer glasses
-
Stenciled/etched drinking glasses
-
Stenciled/etched beer mug with Detroit Lions Logo
-
Homemade Soap
Dad loves homemade soap. He first got hooked when they got a bar of lavender goat milk soap. Since then he has tried many different types of soap (like olive oil ones) and has likes them all. I have got him a bunch of goat milk soap, so I am looking for other types. Olive oil was his favorite, but that could just be because his hasn't tried anything other than olive oil and goat milk
-
Flip Flops
for mom. Womens 7
1/2
. Here is one
idea
. Any type would work in any craft.
-
Animal Stuff
They foster dogs and cats for their local shelter, so they can always use any animal toys/clothing/items. They have 2 dogs and 1 cat of their own.
-
49ers bag or purse
for mom
-
Spongebob
A stuffie would be great. I have seen crochet patterns. But any method would be great too. Perhaps a knitted or sewn one? Or perhaps a sponge bob magnet?
-
Southwest or Indian Art
Any type or size. Sewn, painted, sand, yarnie, clay, really any type
-
cookie mix in a jar
-
flavored coffee mix(es)
lots of easy recipes online
-
gloves
for mom, any craft
-
homemade dog treats
-
Stocking stuffers
Last year I didn't have much money, so I make a stocking for my mom and filled it with little things (like the little sewing accessories you can get for $1, washcloths, etc). She was almost in tears. She loved it. So I want to get some suffers to put in stockings. Just some ideas are potholder(s), hotpad, finger potholders, cooking/baking supplies/mixes/accessories, spices, dog toys, any detroit lions/49ers(football)/spongebob, anything you can think of. I am going to make my parents both one this year (or make dad one and have a bunch of little gifts for her to open).
-
Anything you think they would like
I didn’t ramble on about their life for no reason.
If you got any ideas while reading their “bio,” (ie, something for animals or a bookmark for dad’s reading), go with it. My imagination limits me greatly. Don’t let my poor imagination limit you too :p If you have ideas, please, use them. There is also more ideas in the board I linked
above
.
For Mags
(a family friend I have known my whole life)
-
Nightmare Before Christmas wallet/holder
Based on
this,
but it would be better if it was to hold memory cards or money (or anything else you can think of) instead of tea. Actually, anything Nightmare Before Christmas related would be wonderful. It just can’t be too large. Her son, his wife and their daughter are moving in with them, so they have gotten rid of a lot of knick knacks.

Plants vs Zombies Plush toy(s)

-
Plants vs Zombies Amigurumi(s)
like this
or

Nightmare Before Chistmas in Polymer Clay
I know it is a long shot but
this
is amazing.
For My “Boy”friend
Blue is his favorite color, he likes most colors (he is very artistic), no allergies. Old enough to have 4 kids in their 30s
.
-
Robe
He needs a long, warm robe for the winter. Something that will go to
atleast
his mid-calf
-
Prince Valiant 2013 Calendar
-
Homemade Baked Goods
Pies (he would love an apple one with a lattice top, any size, even a super tiny one), bread, cookies…. He loves baked goods and they are hard to find here. Feel free to claim him for this, I can give it to him early.
-
Super Hero Coasters
as seen
here.
Old style comics like that would be great. He would flip if it was from old comic strips. His favorite strip is Prince Valiant (by the original artist, not the modern version).
-
***Shorts/Boxers***
. Super Duper Big Wish!
When it is hot he wears boxers all day. One day he is going to forget and flash someone. I would love it if someone could make him a pair of boxers without the hole. So basically, super light weight shorts.

I claim craftaddiction for some tiny gifts. Magnets and bookmarks and perhaps a surprise
2/0/0
Immediate Family
Mom
—Librarian for 11 years, former PPG factory worker and nurse’s aide.
~Glass ornament. My mom buys an ornament from a local festival each year, but the man only makes so many designs. These are handmade glass figurines of Christmas-y things, like reindeer, bells, snowflakes, etc.
~Tree of Life pendant
~Rice pack heating pad (optional: with scented herbs inside), in cute fabric. She has one now but it’s ugly brown and falling apart.
Dad
—PPG technician, likes hunting, fishing, wine, and grilling.
~A little box/pouch to put his highlighters/pens/pencils in. He is taking college classes online and always frets about not having what he needs where he needs them. Man-style.
~Heavy duty gloves or hot pads for grilling purposes
~Dry rubs for meat.
Zach
—Brother, 21 in September. College senior at Penn State. Works on bridges in the summertime. Likes hanging out with his friends at camp.
~Stenciled/etched shot glasses with his name or a manly surprise
~Disarmed bullet on a keychain.
~Wall art with a quote from here:

~Stenciled shirt. Size adult medium. Stenciled quote or saying relating to lifting weights or running.
Tanner
—Brother, 12. Plays percussion in the band. Likes launching rockets and building models. Pittsburgh Steeler fan.

~Boston Red Sox “B” on an iPhone cover, crocheted if possible, but any medium will do
Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents, & etc. (14 total people)
—
~Canned foods. Anything but tomatoes. My mom cans tomatoes so she would be jealous if your recipe became a favorite!
~Preserves. Favorites are strawberry and peach, but again, anything will do.
~Soup-in-a-jar mixes. My grandparents are getting tired of cooking, so this would help them out a lot. Could be sent in plastic bags instead of glass, for safety reasons for my grandparents.
~Wine carriers/totes/sleeves, etc. Wine accessories.
~Felt/crocheted food for my cousin’s sons, ages 3 & 1. Any type. Any material, as long as they can chew on it.
~Fun shape melted crayons for my cousin’s sons, ages 3 & 1.

~Beer bottlecap magnets for uncles.
~Ornaments! Get creative, can be Christmas-y or not.

~Stationery/card sets, any type.
~Junk turned into garden art. My aunt collects junk like rusty sprockets and broken cement figurines and glass chunks and puts them into her garden.

-
Plants vs Zombies Plush toy(s)
like this
-
Plants vs Zombies Amigurumi(s)
like this
or
like this
-
Plants vs Zombies bracelet
-
Nightmare Before Chistmas in Polymer Clay
For me

I am claiming craftaddiction for some play food for her BFF's kiddies!
2nd claim, none sent or received
Hello, I am Beth and I live in Michigan. This is one of my favorite swaps and I look forward to making and getting all sorts of goodies. I have a greyhound named Hallo and have just recently started canning. You know, cause I needed to get involved with another hobby/project .
