This is hauntingly creepy.  Something about birds and skeletons together... both seem pretty harmless on their own... but when they join forces it's just not right!

It's horrible and beautiful at the same time.  A piece that will definitely stay with me.

Did you make that skeleton, or distress one?

Oh, bother -- I cut & pasted & edited this from my blog, but I apparently deleted the bit about the skelly -- she's from a halloween garland.  She started out covered in a thick layer of some sort of plaster-y material that hid a lot of her details -- I stripped that off to reveal her delicate white bony self.  I then distressed her whiteness.  I've used one of these skeletons before and I described the process here: http://www.microjivvy.com/sweet-skeleleton-surprise

Previously, I articulated a skelly by cutting it a part and inserting wires at the joints (I needed some "movability").  For this one, I used the heat of a candle to either "soften and twist" her or to heat a needle I then used to "solder" her joints in position.

This really should be in an art gallery- or worn on a hat to show her off to the world

Oh, yes yes yes... "worn as a hat" is the most fabulous idea!

BTW, I think the second full-body shot of this piece is so incredibly beautiful. You really nailed it with her posture.

I am the incredibly proud owner of this. It's incredible. Completely, breathtakingly, obscenely, incomprehensibly beautiful. I knew I was in for a treat as soon as I was paired with Microjivvy in this swap (and to be honest, utterly bloody terrified because what on Earth could I make that wouldn't completely pale into insignificance next to Microjivvy's overwhelming talent). But holy bananas batman. This is utterly phenomenal. I have pretty much run out of superlatives to use. Besides the staggering skill, creativity, beauty and everything else visually apparent, she proved to be a fantastic swapper by completely nailing it in terms of figuring out my tastes.
