maybe you could use it open as a birdfeeder? fill the "tray" part with large birdseed and hang little straws of nectar around the rim?

LOL that's a creative use for it.  When I was little, I used to "borrow" my mom's from the kitchen, and use it as a UFO with all those little wooden peg-shaped people . . .

LOL... how creative!!!  Cheesy
Love the idea

I have 2 of those steamers in different sizes and I use them a lot.

Put the steamer in a pot that has a tight lid. pour inside boiling water so that it comes up to the level of the steamer without pooling in it. add the cut up veggies of your choice (cauliflower, onion, potatoes, cabbage[sweet and delish], sweet potatoes, carrots... you name it. I like to add garlic and sprigs of rosemary). cover tighly and boil on high for exactly 20 minutes.
I like to serve it either with lemon-tahini sauce or mint-yogurt sauce.

BTW - use the water for soups... if it touched the steamer it will be filled with all sorts of vitamins and quite tasty.

It is a steamer basket!  Thanks for sharing this idea.  I actually have one that has a leg missing and need something to do with it.  It looks cute and quirky as a garden decoration.
That's exactly what happened to mine! This is such a cute idea!

Thanks, y'all! I haven't been on Craftster for a while, but I'm back and I appreciate all the ideas! I love the idea of using it as a birdfeeder!
