I see pillow-pets everywhere; I even own a couple myself. I thought it would be a cute idea if there was an axolotl pillow pet, seeing I am obsessed with axolotls myself. So today I threw together my idea- 100% completely hand sewn, took a couple hours to do. I also added instead of the velcro the usual ones have; a type of ribbon (or material) that simply ties- the material one holds together quite well.

I have an axolotl obsession. Smiley

THIS TOTALLY ROCK!  I had to look up what an axolotl was, so I learned something new today.  Your pillow pal is darling.  You did an amazing job and I'm totally impressed with your design and sewing skills!

Crocheting is like prostitution.  First you do it for love, and then for a few close friends, and then for money.  Maybe that is why they call us Hookers?

This is completely adorable!!! Looks so soft and fluffy. I'd love to take him to bed with me. Is it made entirely of fleece? I'm beyond impressed that you hand stitched that in 2 hours. Incredible!

Thanks everyone!

It is made out of Minky (top - the purple) and regular anti-pill fleece (the pink).

I believe it is called the overcast stitch? I find it really holds everything together- when doing it by hand. I sometimes go over certain areas twice- like the ones that fold just in case. As for thread- I got mine from Jo-ans; a basic cotton thread, seeing I also use it on my machine, and my machine is rather picky with the threads it can use.

You can also order some really nice minky fabrics online- I'm not sure the kind of materials you are looking for, but for children's toys and plush, it makes everything super soft and cuddly. It also works great with regular fleece accents I found personally. I can link you some of the sites I purchase from, if you like. I go by quality as well- so I know that materials won't fray or pull apart.
