I have been wanting to try dressmaking for a few years, especially after living with a fashion designer in '09/'10. So after my mum wanted to through away some old bedsheets, I made her keep them so I could use them as scrap, specifically so I could practice dressmaking!! I was also donated lots of old patterns from Vogue, McCalls, Simplicity etc.

So I took some patterns I thought would beand started sewing last weekend to make a dress and finished my skirt in less than 5 hours today. It's best to note, I didn't have any interfacing for either designs and I haven't finished the hems on either.

 THE DRESS

THE SKIRT

I have purchased fabric to make the dress for myself, with a few changes to collar and sleeves. But find more photos on my blog Smiley

Good job!  I never have the patience to make a mock-up first.  Be sure to post photos of the finished dress!
