So I ordered $100 worth of Alpaca (from the past 2 years' birthday money from my aunt) and it arrived this week. Now Bella, I know you're allergic, but it doesn't hurt to look at it, does it?

I think this is my favorite hand-spun-by-me ever. It is so nice. I mean, I could honestly see this on a store shelf. I am so proud of myself! 2-ply, ~230 yards. Even the 2 bobbins came out even, 1 had only about 1 yard more than the other. Sweet!

And this one was from a Phat Fiber sample that had Alpaca, angora, Shetland, amd Llama:

~1oz, ~25 yards, plied with cotton Serger thread, just for fun.

Yes, they are beautiful, jexxican!
After being altogether absent for many Fiber Fridays, I have something significantly less beautiful to add:

It looks more vibrant in this photo than expected, but it's essentially 292 yards of flesh.  Lips sealed The roving, dyed by freestyle, looked great and was easy to work with, so she's not to blame.
All I could think of as I looked at what was accumulating on my spindle was the textbook anatomy diagrams of the integumentary system (skin)!  Puffy skin, veins, ducts, sweat glands...Cheesy If I could get these thoughts out of my mind (and the image of a really creepy fake-skin mask that could be made with it), I would probably like it more.

calluna--I think the yarn is lovely...I actually purchased similar yarn a few years back and made a calorimetry with it..I love the different thicknesses of the yarn--it looks orangey more than flesh to me! Cheesy

What will you make with your yarn?

I sent it to dreadlocklove as a birthday gift, since she likes oranges and burnt colors...I like those colors too, but somehow not in this particular yarn.  Smiley

Here's some yarn I spun up from roving I bought from Color Craz Fiber on Etsy.  It's soooo pretty and soft.  I realy have to think of something special to use it for.

Best of all I still have more of the roving to spin up!

No, Jexx, looking at alpaca on a computer screen is completely safe! Lovely job!
Calluna, I love that yarn, I think it's gorgeous.
Puppy_Girl, that is going to look great worked up into something!

Thanks everyone.
Calluna, I have a hard time seeing that as fleshy but I can understand if it was why you want to get rid of it, though I think it would make a great yarn for something life-like. Something creepy. Maybe you could have sold it to like Rob Zombie or something...   Wink
Puppy girl, all those color work super together. Very eclectic. That will make something funky. Any ideas what you are going to work it up as?
