I think this fits the definition of "EPIC"  Wink This is a project I started long ago, but never finished. It's one of those "love-hate" projects: I started really excited, then wondered "what was I thinking?" and stopped for a while, then picked up the project again, etc. This challenge gave me the kick I needed to pick up that quilt and finish it once and for all!  Cheesy

All of this started when I decided that I wanted to make a quilt with a character from a video game. Since our living room colors are basically black-grey-white-orange, I decided that a grey quilt would fit nicely. Then my boyfriend thought of a Metal Slime, a smiley baddy from the serie "Dragon Quest". I found a 15X15 pixel pattern from the NES version of the game. I decided to make it 17X25 squares and, since I wanted something big, decided to go with charm squares (5X5 inches). So it ended up HUGE, the short side is longer than me (I'm only 5'2", but still!  Grin )!!

Here it is, with me on it to show the size (and it's bigger in person! Cheesy ):

Here it is being held by my 6'3" boyfriend with his arms streched:

Here are some other pictures, since I'm so proud of it (in the first picture, my boyfriend and my mother are hidden behind it):

Here are work-in-progress pictures:
The pattern with the background:

The center part before it was sewn!

I don't have a picture of the back, it's a dark grey fabric with white dots. Sorry for all the bragging, but I'm really happy that I could finish a project as big as that! Now the question is: what do I do with it?  Tongue

I understand the love-hate part, but it was worth it. Amazingly beautiful.

My 12 year old retro gamer recognised it immediately and was very impressed. Well done, it is cool. Was it hand sewn?

I'm patient, but not THAT patient!  Tongue I did all the sewing with a sewing machine, all the joining of the squares was done with my normal sewing machine and the quilting itself was done with my mom's long-arm machine (thank God for that!)  Smiley

Ahahaha!  That is so cool!  And it's fairly fitting that the metal slime turned out to be an epic project.  I don't know much about quilting but your design looks amazing.  Huge kudos to you for finishing this up and sharing it with us!  <3
