I moved recently and was trying to decorate my new sewing room. I purchased three thread holders (one for my standard spools, one for my bobbins, and one for my large serger cones). To utilize my space I opted to hang them on my walls. First I painted the holders gold then I mounted them (with Gorilla Glue) onto some mirrors that I was going to throw out.

I think they make a pretty neat functional art installation and cant wait to have them filled with some fun colored threads!

*Other ideas for this type of wall hanging could be to mount the holders onto canvas (painted or fabric covered).

*ALSO I would advise you to use spray paint instead of a paint brush...Hand painting was sooooo time consuming!

That's awesome! I think I have like 3 of those on my table and they take up a lot of room!

Exactly! I am cluttered enough on my own so anything I can hang will hang!

Great space-saving idea and I love the mirrors to reflect all the pretty colours.

This is a great idea but please be aware that placing them where there is sun exposure will weaken and age your thread. You don't want to deal with weak thread!  ;-)

Thanks.I'm familiar with thread's reaction to sunlight. There isn't much natural sunlight streaming into my sewing room :-( but yes...anyone thinking about displaying there thread anywhere should keep that in mind!
