Keep calm and make a list

I've been working on some pretty fun things, much to the dismay of my studio, which is currently overflowing with shoes, and my horsehair walls, which cannot support shelves in order to display them. (Does anyone have any experience with horsehair walls that could give me a little tip? haha)

Anyway, these two I actually only made one of each because I was feeling sculptural. One of my bathrooms is under the sea themed, so maybe someday I'll be able to get a shelf in there to display, but I don't know. What I'm trying to do (and this won't happen until after the wedding) is get a land & sea/surf & turf themed photoshoot going on with my friend, in which to feature both of these as a pair.

I get giddy just thinking about it.

This one I did because of the popularity of that 'Oasis' wedge that I did so many moons ago. I wanted to do something similar, but with a little more elegance. I'm not a big fan of wedges myself. I don't know what possessed me to buy them. No wonder they went unworn.

The base here is 6inches, with no platform, something that was a real challenge for me. I'm sure you've noticed that I've been using mostly platforms and that's because there's a sort of safety in them. Taking that rug out from under my feet really forced me to work outside of my comfort zone, which I need to do WAY more often.

As before, the moss and the sticks are from the earth, the flowers and butterflies are artificial. I'd love to work with taxidermy butterflies, but I'm not sure they would be very flexible  Undecided

These were, eh, I want to say more fun, but maybe not really since I was pulling my hair out a lot in the process. I think the reason I want to say they are more fun is because there are more elements involved so I had a lot to experiment with and learn about.

Sand, for example, sucks. Well, it doesn't suck, but it took me a good 3 days to get it looking the way it does. So yeah, it sucks.

Salmon leather, on the heel there, does not suck. It's really cool looking, and feels kind of like a pineapple, minus the pokey-ness.

Other materials include sea-life, crushed shells, pearlized rocks, which are actually just glass made to look like rocks (the packaging lied. I broke them up and saw the truth), rounded shell beads, and various freshwater pearls. I tried to incorporate everything that reminded me of mermaids, minus a fork.  Tongue

As always, thanks for looking, and stay inspired! Smiley

The shoes are gorgeous!  I love them both...it's impossible to pick a favourite! Cheesy
