Ugly $3 Walmart Heels into something Sexy? Need ideas!! <3

So I found these butt-ugly heels at Walmart for $3. The "Cheap University Student" in me leapt at that price tag, but there is no way in hell that I'm wearing them as-is.

OUT COME THE SCISSORS!

As you can tell by the photos, they basically look like a rather plain heel design, with a sort of "sleeve". I suppose I could just cut carefully along the line and call 'em done, but who wants to stop at that? Besides, I have a pair of heels already that look similar to that design. Looking for something snazzier.

I love the idea of lace, studs, etc. Maybe a splash of colour somewhere, somehow.  I need inspiration, and input!

I'd love to hear anything you folks have to say!

What about cutting off just the elastic and then re-using it by hand stitching it inside the boot to go over the ankle crease part of your foot. I'm thinking something like the Anna Bells Trolley boots.

Yes, butt ugly. I can work with white easily, but the black could create some design challenges. One site I saw the person used leather and cut some type of angel/bat wings, attached them to the heal area, colored the entire shoe purple. Nope, remember now, that was on a catalog and I thought I could recreate them.  Sort of a wiccan type of catalog. Maybe Tuscano.
