very colorful...I read in your previous post that you have to sew together three layers of fabric...is the skirt heavy?

With this skirt you cut 6 pieces of fabric in the skirt patterns then "quilt" it... Its hard to explain... then you cut in between the "quilted" bits, so its not actually sewing on lots of strips of fabric... does that make sense?Huh

No, I bought the pattern from a local designer. I wish I was clever enough to write patterns!!

this one is heavier than the other one I made, as it is 3 layers of quilting weight cotton, and the other one had poplin, lace and quilting weight cotton. They are quite heavy, but to be honest I really dont notice it when Im wearing it, just when I pick it up. You could alternatively do it with only 2 layers of fabric, and or lighter weight fabrics.

Thank you for replying.  I have made a vest using a similar technique:  You basically layer three fabrics, sew them all together in some pattern, like squares or rows, then cut between the stitching to one or two of the layers...when you wash it, it frays up and the different fabrics show through.  I love the look, but the vest is a bit heavy wearing.

I am thinking that a skirt would not be any heavier than if you had a lined woolen skirt.  Thanks again for sharing.  Both of your skirts are lovely and fun-looking!
