Thanks for replying! Ok, so its kinda like the technique you use for reverse applique. Totally makes sense when I looked at the pic of your other skirt. But this one looks different, is it just the angle of the picture or did you sew this one differently? cuz this one looks like its got an asemmetryical thing goin with the fabrics as opposed to just being sewn in parallel horizontal lines

cute! love the colors and the style. i tried doing something like that once but i guess it couldnt get it lined up right or something cuz it was a disaster, but this may have inspired me to dig through my stash and try again

With this skirt you cut 6 pieces of fabric in the skirt patterns then "quilt" it... Its hard to explain... then you cut in between the "quilted" bits, so its not actually sewing on lots of strips of fabric... does that make sense?Huh

That's really neat, I love how it looks, and it sounds like you could do it with any skirt pattern.

i found this picture that shows a little better http://www.flickr.com/photos/reinventing_fashion/6190446200/ the pink and green are layered and you can see how she sewed a bunch of parallel lines through both layers and then went back and cut between the sew-lines so taht the underneith layers show through. you can do it with as mayny layers of fabric as you want and i've also seen it done where they sew patterns such as circles instead of straight lines. does that make more sense?
