anyone?  I just got a metric butt ton (okay... so it's like 8lbs of prepared, and a good 5 lbs worth of raw -once washed, anyway) of fibre.  It's all kinds.  loads of different breeds - karakul, southdown, shetland, scottish blackface... just to name a few.. Oh!  and a really cool mixed breed: Jacob and Cotswold. and of coures the standard silks and bamboo and such....   And of course i looked at the color and not the breed, and i bought some alpaca roving... and seeing as it makes my throat close up, I don't want it anymore LOL  we need another fibery swap!

huzzah! some interest!  I'll wait a little while, see if there's more and start one up.... But probably not until the 20th of August. That's when I get back from my last "I wont have any connection to the outside world" vacation this summer.

just checking in on this swap, seeing if there is any interest still.  or if maybe people wanted just a fiber swap?  I remember doing a swap that you had to dye your fiber from an inspiration picture.. just throwing around ideas.  i need to get a fiber fix soon! lol

I'm still wanting to, but it doesn't seem like many are to eager?  Or maybe we need to chat about it in Fibre Friday too, just to see if we can get fibre newbs in on it.

We could do spun for fibre swap, or have a variety of options.  Fluff+yarn for say, something sewn?  or hrm....   I just know Iwhile I've got a lot of fibre, I always love something new Smiley

Shall we nail down some details then?

Just fibre?  Or yarn and fibre?   Or a Spinsters vs fabric crafters?  or Spinters vs Knitters?  Then we could totally get beautiful knitted things for our yarn, and the folks who use the yarn get more yarn?
hrm....

i'd be in.

I can promise that I won't have time to knit, or dye, but I'd love to spin for someone.  Is there a yarn for fibre concept thrown out yet?

I think I'm just waiting on something close to a consensus as to what we'd want to swap for what.  I'll be dyeing and spinning for craft shows shortly, and adding in one yarn or dyed fibre taylored to my partner wouldn't be a problem for me.  Though, I'd also just as soon spin something and recieve something knitted or crocheted in return.

I'm also interested in this swap. I'm a new spinner who would love either handspun or fiber. I would even love a crochet for handspun swap!

Should I maybe start a new thread to see if there are knitters/crocheters who would be willing to swap for handspun?  And would it be overly picky if we asked for our items not be made from red heart? lol

haha! I sometimes worry that it sounds snotty when I say I will NOT work with the cheap stuff. Once I moved on to nicer ($$) yarn I knew I would never go back. So no red heart here. lol

I would prefer to trade fiber for fiber to make things easier, but I could also do yarn for a knitted something

I don't care what we swap for, fiber, yarn, worked up goodies, sewn things... I just want in! Yay fiber swap!

Okay, Fibre for Fibre.  With one small fibre related crafted item, say oriface hooks, fibre prep lap cover, stuff like that?  I'll set a swap up before the weekend!

yay!  one more suggestion? ... could there be a 4oz wool or 2oz fancy (ie. silk, camel, cotton, etc) option?

Yeah, I was thinking that too, what if someone doesn't prep fiber? Like I would have felt intimidated by swapping fiber before I had my carder. Now that I have a way to prep it and personalize it I'm cool but most people don't. Would it be a "just buy some already prepped and send extras" kind of swap? That wouldn't be as fun. That's like buying a pre-made stocking for the stocking swap.

you could always buy white fiber and dye it with Kool-aid or food coloring.  There are lots of tutorials online and it's fairly inexpensive

...... lol.. okay, Maybe, should i give options?

have Fibre want fibre (Fancy fibre- 2oz,  wool fibre - 4oz)
Have fibre want yarn (2oz fibre for 2 oz yarn, or 4 oz fibre for 2 oz yarn)
Still with one small crafted item?  Or leave that out?

I don't want anyone feeling left out...
