I love combining antique ideas with modern living.

Several years ago I was in a zine swap that was one of the most fun experiences I have had in the online crafting community.  Each person made 9 copies of their zine (which could be about anything, of any length) to send to the other participants, and for about two weeks I had a steady stream of unique, fun, and handmade reading material.  Some of the zines I kept for years, either because they were so artistic or because the writing was so special.  Some were all writing, some had poetry, some were very small and some were more involved.  No experience required!

Would anyone be interested in doing this?  I just got involved on Craftster, so I couldn't organize unless we did it a long time from now, but I'm happy to help!

If you're not sure what a zine is, check out the links below.  They are very fun to make, and lots of fun to receive.

Wikipedia's explanation http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zine.

Lots of fun pictures of zines here: https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=zine&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=1600&bih=775&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=wUkHUOyWO8mw2QXYx8H7Dw

I am a product-oriented crafter and spend a lot of time on my items (believe it or not!)  I am interested in personal swaps with folks who have common interests and standards.  I love textiles, texture, and rugged-meets-vintage-meets-luxe.

This sounds like fun! I learned about zines awhile ago, but never found a chance to acquire some. Although I cannot organize, if this swap happened, I would participate!  Grin

Cool!  I have no idea whether other folks would be interested.  Glad to know I'm not alone, though!

I like the idea but I have some questions. Do you create the zine 9 times or do you copy or print It? Is it mostly art, photography or writing?

Did this ever come to fruition?  I would love to participate - I've got a bunch ready to go anyway!

This does sound like a really cool idea! I've never made a zine but liked reading them and could use the inspiration!
