Don't know if this is the right folder. Feel free to move it if not..

Being a Doctor Who Nerd.. I prefer that to Whovian that always sounds so crazy.. I found this blue umbrella and was like I need to rock me some Who when it rains, cause I mean who wouldn't want that.. I just used paint acrylic paint and i'm planning on sealing with with something.. Not sure yet..

That's really cool!  You'll have to let us know what you seal it with!

OMGss! I love you for this inspiration!!!! I have to make this for my 13 year old. Rain never bothers me, but she loves umbrellas. I have to make this for her 8th grade school year, I know a few mates will  be jealous.

In terms of sealing it, you could try some spray that seals leather and suede jackets/shoes available from shoe shops? Don't know how well it would work or if it would make the paint run so probably worth a test first. Oh, and THIS ROCKS!

Stupendous!  (And being a Tardis it is, of course, larger on the inside, so you should be able to get quite a lot of people under there with you....)

Thanks guys... I've yet to seal it yet or to use it but I've already noticed flaking of the white paint. So I think what I may do is go over it with Enamel paint and then find a sealer.. Still not sure what to seal it with that won't flake or crack when I close it..  Roll Eyes

Mod Podge makes a good brush on fabric sealer...I use it for painted tote bags.

That is just plain AWESOME!  I'm with you, Dr. Who Nerd beats Whovian any day  Tongue
I would think you could seal with Scotchgard, or, something from the acrylic paint aisle at your local Hobby Lobby, probably an Aline's product (sure miss her tv shows!).

Keep up the good work!

Maybe try the spray that is meant to seal camping tents? It stays flexible. Not sure if it would discolor your fine work, though. Good Luck!

We had a big rainstorm the other day so I had to use it before I sealed it. But it held up pretty good.. The only flaking is from where the umbrella closes and folds itself but no damage from the rain

Beautiful!  Gotta love Doctor Who.  I'm a Whovian, myself, and quite the fangirl about it.  There's something about David Tennant's Doctor that I thoroughly enjoy, but I love all his iterations. Beautiful umbrella! Thanks for sharing!
