Superman Dress!

This is probably, so far, my favourite dress of the stuff I've been sewing recently. It's McCall's M6504, with a few modifications. I skipped the sleeve pleats, shortened the neckline a bit (I don't mind cleavage, but there is such a thing as too much), and added pockets in the side seams. I finished the hem with bias binding. I love the way it's put together with gores--it fits really comfortably and the style works well on me. I'm planning another dress in the same pattern, with different sleeves, actually, and then my sister-in-law wants me to make her one (I'm bartering the dress for some of their homemade beer).

I found the fabric at Fabricland when I was searching for Avengers fabric. Sadly, my choices were only Batman or Superman, so I went with Superman comic-print, because the colours were better. Then I inadvertently wore the dress to a fancy restaurant (when you're told the dinner's at a park and they don't elaborate, surely you can't be expected to infer that it's at the fancy restaurant in the park?).

I absolutely adore this!  Not only is it a great fabric, but the dress itself is just lovely.  I might have to check out that pattern myself!

Pretty!  I think the neckline modification is spot on   You look great in it!

I love the dress. The pattern looks great on you and I suspect it would look good on a lot of women (i.e. me). I really like the contrasting bias on the bottom.With all the pieces it looks like a lot of work.

Too fun! I would wear this to a fancy restaurant... but maybe that's why people call me weird.
