I finally got round to finishing my Steampunk Jacket and Skirt, using Simplicity pattern 2172 and fabric from Abakhan.

I still need to make a corset to go with it, and I'm not sure if I'll need an underskirt with it.

I intend to wear it to a Vampire Ball later this year.

I made this pattern about a year ago, but it didn't turn out nearly as neat. Very well done!

Lovely fabric and beautiful outfit.  I'm sure you will look so elegant in it at your Vampire Ball.

Thanks everyone for the lovely comments, and I've never been pinned before!!

I will post pictures of the completed outfit after the ball - hopefully I can get someone who is a bit better at photography to take a few photos.

This is beautiful!! Can I also just add that I love Abakhan, but I have had to move back down south and cannot venture in on a whim and spend silly amounts of money any more... sad times!

Pics of the whole outfit would be wonderful!

This is beautiful work, I have been looking at this pattern for ages but slightly scared to start it as I may never finish it, how long did it take you?

Hi mangajude,

It did take me quite a while to finish it, but that's because I was being lazy, and hate doing hand sewing! It's a reasonably straight-forward pattern, although sewing the fabric for the frills was a complete PITA, which is why I put off finishing it for a while.

You might want to consider adding shoulder pads too - I put mine in before I completely sewed the lining to the main fabric, so they are in between the two layers. Otherwise I felt the shoulders just didn't sit right. I guess this depends on what fabric you are using though.

Last weekend, I started on the corset I'm making to go with it, but I've only got three weeks now before the Vampire Ball! I'll post more pictures of the completed outfit after that - I'll try to get some decent pictures taken too.
