wow, that's awesome!  Cheesy

I think I might try the same thing, but without quite so many folded parts...  I'm too lazy!   Wink

Just seen this as a guide for a mix cd:

1. Favorite song from the '80's

2. Favorite song with a color (other than blue) in the title

3. Favorite song with a city, state, or country in the title

4. A song that reminds you of your best friend

5. The song that you listen to when you're depressed

6. Favorite song with a one word title

7. Favorite song by a band with the word "The" in their name

8. A song you like that your parents exposed you to

9. Favorite "One Hit Wonder" song

10. A song with a fruit in the title

11. A song with a question word in the title (who, what, when, where, why, or how)

12. Favorite cartoon theme song

13. A song about a sport or sports team

14. The song you would use to introduce someone to your favorite band (not neccessarily their best song)

15. A song about a break-up or ending of a relationship

16. A song about drinking or drugs (either for or against)

17. An instrumental song (doesn't have to be classical)

18. Favorite song to drive to (sorry to those without a license)

19. A song you'd hate to get stuck in your head all day

20. wildcard - your choice

Amazing...you have definitely raised the bar on the mix tape exchange.  Whenever I hear  the phrase "Good things come in small packages" I always think "Screw the good things..it's all about the packaging!"

a supply suggestion:  instead of duct tape which isn't archival you can get adhesive-backed fabric  from www.talas-nyc.com  under Adhesives: Mounting & Hinging: it's called Filmoplast T Tape.  it's sold by the roll.   super handy for repair, too.

i made this for my friend's birthday mix cd, and she loved it! i didn't do quite so many folds though. i used an old lp cover like adamkempa did, and it was the perfect weight cardboard. it was very sturdy and i modpodged pictures to it, which made it a little stiffer too. the only problem i had was when i was taping and folding it all up, it didn't want to stay closed, so i will have to work harder at that next time.

that's fabulous!  I would *never* have the patience to do it (well, maybe I would if I was in uber-procrastination) but you have my admiration.  I might have a crush on you and your obsessive-compulsiveness.

Hi. This looks awsome! What a labour of love. I would love to recieve a mix CD with this much care put into it. Your friends must feel super lucky. ^_^

I wanted to add a note to what coffee said about archivalness: It is true that duct tape is not archival, but that doesn't really matter for this project, since brown craft paper is also non-archival, as well as the fact that spray painting directly onto paper will lead to it eventually deteriorating. It's also a mixed CD, so does it really need to be archival? Good advice, nonetheless, for those you would like to know.

i was actually gonna make a thread about this 'cause i made something very similar - although i didn't have as many folds and used oaktag (which worked very well and is super cheap).  also i bought those cd-rs that look like they're made of vinyl, so the whole cd was packaged like a record.
oh and another thing - i was worried that the cd might get scratched so i got cd sleeves and lined the oaktag with one.
the end.
