I didn't heat it up or do anything fancy (though I like the idea - I may try it out!).  I cut it with diagonal cutters (just about ruined them - use decent wire cutters if you have them), and I bent it with pliers.  I did use the "soft"-est hanger that I found in my closet.  Smiley

Thanks for the nice comments!

Oh that's awesome! I decided to try out some wire hanger stuff, but mine are SOOOO HARD TO BEND! But my husband managed to coil the wire around one of my knitting needles and make awesome brassy colored jump rings! I don't know how he did it, but he's my designated jump ring maker from now on. haha!

I tried the jump rings, but by the time they were bent, I couldn't cut the wire with my diagonal cutters.  Someday, I'll have to get heavier wire cutters I think!  (You're right, they're really hard to bend too -- I often craft with aviation safety wire, which is also hard, so I guess I don't mind hard wire Smiley )  I'll have to post some of my aviation wire earrings when I get around to taking pictures.

i loved this so much, i had to try to make one! when i saw yours, i started drooling over it, and wanted one for my gypsy ren fest costume. it was a lot of fun. i used these giant clippers to cut the hanger, and they didn't want to go through all the way, but they went through enough where i was able to bend it back and forth a couple times to get it cut. i painted mine with gold outdoor paint (says it's good for metal) because i was pretty sure the hanger metal would turn my neck green. gotta scrounge up some kinda cord for it still. Smiley

thank you so much for the inspiration. what an amazingly thrifty idea, and yours is soo beautiful! Cheesy

Wow!  Really!  Thank you so much!  I was just thinking today that I wanted to start making things and taking pictures of them again, and posting them.  This may just push me back into this world!
