Details of swap:
Whether you want to save money by bringing lunch from home, appreciate the practicality or eco-friendliness of reusable containers, are a hard-core traditionalist or want your kids to eat healthy and well at school and use up leftovers this swap is for you!

You do not have to make a gorgeous bento every day or spend hours carving cute carrot shapes to join this swap but thats great if you do! Im in it mostly for the easy-to-use containers and accessories Smiley Everyone is welcome!

This swap is for 3 points worth of crafted items plus 2 purchased items. Nice and easy for the summer. Youll decide how much to spend with your partner for the purchased ones. There is a question in the questionnaire about amounts and I will try to match according to the answers, but it might not work out perfectly. Be prepared to go lower Smiley

Calabaza: you could also try sending out "Hey, if you're still interested, I just opened the Bento swap for sign-ups" email to those that posted on the topic discussion forum. I received an email like that before from a swap organizer, and I really appreciated it as I would have missed it otherwise, since I'm not always checking the swap list.

And *are* there any good "bento" online stores in USA? I know there used to be one, in San Francisco I think, but for some reason they closed their online store. They were always sold out of what I wanted anyhow, but they had great prices & selection. I browsed online earlier but the best site I found was actually in Japan. I'm going to browse a couple oriental stores around town to see if they maybe started carrying Bento items... it's been a few years since I checked.

One would think, being a "Sister City" to a city in Japan, and having a Japanese Student program at one of our local colleges, that there'd be some sort of bento culture around. But when I was asking around 2 yrs ago, the largest & oldest oriental market in town said "Bento? What's that?"

I have bought some Bento items from http://www.allthingsforsale.com/ a year or so ago and they are US based. I know that Lunch in a box has a Bento store locator for the US but I've never been able to get the map to work for me. You can find that here: http://lunchinabox.net/bento-store-locator/.  The last time I bought Bento boxes was at a Sanrio store in San Antonio since I can't find anything like that where I live.

I will be working on my questionairre later today!  I've been wanting to do another Bento swap for awhile so I'm glad one has been started!  Smiley

@Eclectic Dreamer: I sent out a "Hi- the swap's open" yesterday and see a couple of people made it over here after that. Hi, smittenheart and arcadian green!
I would try checking the stores around you again. Hopefully they've caught the bento bug Smiley 2 years can make a big difference!

Online I've seen All Things For Sale mentioned a lot on blogs and they were all positive experiences. Amazon has a bunch of bento stuff! Sometimes it pops up in places you wouldn't expect like http://www.modcloth.com/ (just search "bento").

I'm one of the lucky ones: There's a Daiso store right near me with a great, cheap bento section (there're some boxes around $6.00 and most everything else is $1.50) so I don't have any personal experience online bento-shopping.

ETA: Pottery Barn Kids has some bento products and their "Spencer" line looks very bento too.
