This is an old design in a new fabric, made from my own pattern.

This striped satin is deeeeeelicious. It's actually a full on stretch knit satin, versus what I was using before, which was still a woven but had a little stretch. The bonus... NO ZIPPER! Weeee!
Nothing against zippers, they're just more time consuming.  Wink

The fabric is sort of weird though- it's only 44" wide, unlike most knits that are 54-60" wide, and it stretches lengthwise only. I've had fabric that stretches only crosswise, and fabric that stretches crosswise AND lengthwise, but never have I come across fabric that stretches only lengthwise before this.

I was trying to explain this oddity to my boyfriend and his eyes just kind of glazed over the way they always do when I start getting philosophical about fabric.

It has an empire waist and a flared skirt. Some photos have a petticoat underneath for extra poof!

I love it--the stripes are gorgeous. I haven't been daring enough to sew with stripes yet.

Good job on lining up the stripes (at least from what I see) they look like they line up pretty well.

The fabric on this dress is very dreamy, indeed.  The addition of a petticoat makes it look extra cute.  Love it!
