It's been a while since I made any lotion since I have a huge bottle of massage therapists base. I got a whole gallon free from a lady who was opposed to using Arnica. Long story but this isn't the endangered plant but hey it's your $100 bucks down the drain.  I use it often but wanted a thick heavily scented delight for those days I just wanna really feel pampered. The oil, called love potion smells like heaven, incense ashes and just yum. I know you say ashes? Yah kinda in a vampire been in the dirt kinda way. Hard to describe but amazing.

My ghetto set up. Hey in 500sq feet you don't have the space to store all sorts of double boilers and molds. So I improvise and use empty bottles and my stainless cookware.

Poured into my molds

One for now and three for later stored in the fridge.

Recipe
4 ounces shaved beeswax
6 ounces coconut oil
2 ounces EVOO
8 ounces shea butter
25 drops scent

Method
Put items 1-3 in a double boiler once melted add the shea butter and heat just until it melts. Remove small pan from water bath and stir in scent. Pour into molds and let set up. Freezer takes 15 mins. Fridge an hr or so and on the counter overnight.

I've never made lotion bars, but I hear a lot of rave reviews about them.  I'm going to give this a shot some time!  Also, props to the "ghetto setup."  Who cares, right?  As long as it gets done, who cares how it was made!  Smiley

Ok you got lotion in a bottle and it squirts, drips, spreads and so forth. It is thin or thick usually comes in a bottle. Then you got the body butters which are a little thicker than a lotion and more emollient. They usually come in a jar not a bottle. Now a lotion bar is a product made with a wax (beeswax for non vegans) and coconut oil which is solid at 77 degrees. You can plop this into a soap container and take it flying and no worries about TSA's liquid requirements. The beeswax keeps it hard like a bar of soap and you rub it between your hands to warm up the butters and spread it on your skin. It is SUPER moisturizing. I have SUPER dry skin so I like things that are "slip and fall on the kitchen floor" silky. It is less messy than a butter or lotion and you can use it to help exfoliate a little, like on elbows and heels. Hope that helps, let me know if you have any more questions.
