I'm about to embark on making some long pants as I've put on just a little weight and all the pants I've got are now too tight when I have my time of the month bloating.  I'd really like some well fitted pants with a waistband and zipper (so they look fairly formal) that could expand to fit me better when I'm bloated.  I'm wondering about making a stretchy waist band somehow.  Has anyone done this or got some ideas?

The easiest thing to do is insert an adjustable button elastic in the waistband. It's most commonly in children's clothes, but I did see a tutorial somewhere for a woman who was tired of plumber butt... AHA! Here it is Cheesy There's also this and this, just to make sure you can clearly see what's going on here.
