Mother's Day Tussie Mussie

(front)

(back)

Tussie Mussie is a small flower bouquet, typically given as a gift. The term tussie-mussie comes from the reign of Queen Victoria when the small bouquets became a popular fashion accessory. Typically, tussie-mussies include floral symbolism from the language of flowers.
During the Victorian era, both in the UK and the USA the interest in the language of flowers was very popular. Gifts of blooms, plants, and specific floral arrangements were used to send a coded message to the recipient, allowing the sender to express feelings which could not be spoken aloud in Victorian society. Armed with floral dictionaries, Victorians often exchanged small "talking bouquets," called nosegays or tussie-mussies, which could be worn or carried as a fashion accessory.
Unfortunately, I am extremely allergic to many flowers and plants. I knew that I couldnít make Tussie Mussies in the traditional way of sending a message with flowers. But I liked the idea of a small pretty bouquet and I decided to make them using Geranium Regal Graziosa Lilac from my yard.
To make the bouquet I use plastic disposable wine glasses, without their base obviously and floral foam. They were a perfect fit for the Tussie Mussies.

Happy Motherís Day to all of you Crafty Ladies.

Those are so pretty and such a clever idea! That would be great for a wedding too.

Those are so sweet! Your use of the plastic wineglass is simply inspired. Smiley
