Waggonswest, I can understand that you might not like the line of stitching that will be running across the front of your flag if you make the sleeve the way the directions state.  I think the important thing is to try to make the finished size 5 x 8", and then you can make any sort of hanging device you want.

OK.  I'll follow the directions.  Actually, when I looked at the picture you posted, I see that they folded toward the front creating a flappy doodle sort of thing.  I think that will work out nicely unless my partners really want to thread a 3 inch branch through the casing!

Great flags, Smmarrt!  There's always a learning curve with new things, so I expect each one to be a little different.  I'm planning to make mine very simply, with raw edges all over the place!

Okay, but I might have to stitch around the perimeter....don't know if I can let go of finishing. Eeeeek! I will try.

I just sent in my questionnaire!
HOORAY!

Smmarrt, those flags are great, I am SO loving the stamping idea!

Now to think of to finish or not to finish...
Sounds kind of Hamlet-esque...

To finish, or not to finish--that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The frays and edges of outrageous cutting
Or to take irons against a turned out seam of troubles
And by snipping the corners sharpen them.

And with that my crafty Ladies via Lady MacBeth
A kind good night to all!

silentblair--THAT rocks!

my brain leans more towards:

there was once a seamstress from craftster
whose edges were quite the disaster.
friends offered to help,
but she gave quite the !*%@#, um, yelp.
"they're not neat, but i get 'em done faster!"

Love your flags Smmart  Smiley

I have a question. I know the flag itself has to be 5x8 but can we add trim or tassels that dangle below it?

Kookaloo, SURE, go ahead and do whatever you want on your flag!  Dangly things are fine!

Dang, this swap is off to an awesome start, with fractured verse so early in the game!  I love those, both of them, Susan and Blair!!!!
