Comic Book Prom Shoes

I felt I needed to leave school being extraordinary out of everyone else and giving everyone something to remember about me. To do this, I used prom in order to create something I've wanted for a long time - comic book shoes. This relates to my outfit which used comics to accessorise it and 'add interest' as my textiles teacher would say.

I originally wanted a covered toe shoe with no awkward bits to cut around. So my mum bought me peep toe shoes with windows that were awkward to cut around. They also ended up being too big for my feet but we solved that with gel cushions and heel cushions.

They look fantastic! How did you get the toe area to look so clean??

With the toe area, I used some plastic clothes pins to clip a rectangle of comic book onto the toe area and carefully cut around the curves with a stanley knife blade before neatening up those edges with a pair of scissors. Any excess was trimmed off with the blade after several coat of watered down PVA glue.

I love that you incorporated the bottom of the shoe. Now you can kick your feet up and still have an interesting view!
