So I'm head over heels in love with those blankets I see that are made of granny squares to make a 8-bit video game pattern, and I want to try it. However I am yet to find a good, solid granny square pattern. One thag doesnt have too many holes in it, you know? Does anyone know of a good one?

Thanks so much!

I had a look on Ravelry and found quite a few! Here's two I think you might find useful:

Unholey Granny Square - 12" square, Ravelry link, direct link (you can stop at any row to make a smaller square)

Chain Stitch Square, Ravelry link, direct link (a .pdf pattern)

You may also want to expand your search efforts to "square motif" rather than "granny square".  Many crocheters (myself included) consider a "granny square" to be a specific pattern - one that has many holes in it.

I work the 1 in the first link the unholey granny square and substitute 2 triple crochet in place of the chain 2 that form the corners to make a completely solid square. So the corner pattern would read 2 double 1 triple in the first corner stitch and then 1 triple 2 double in the next corner stitch. Makes a very nice solid square I used for my babette blanket.
