I made this journal for another swap I was in recently! This was new territory for me because:
a.) I have never bound pages before and
b.) I have never worked with suede/leather
It turned out way better than expected lol!

I bought a bag of suede remnants at JoAnn's and just kind of pieced them together until I found a nice pattern. Luckily there were some pieces that fit together fairly well! SO I just stitched them together on the sewing machine...not sure if that is the proper way to do it but it worked out just fine! I lined it with navy blue fabric with small white stars but silly me forgot to take a picture of the inside before I sent it!!!!
I used this tutorial that I found from a blog for the general outline of the pattern.
http://pinterest.com/pin/68328119316743194/I found it super easy to use! The pages are stitched with the ribbons and they can be untied from the cover if more signatures need to be added! I used a nice parchment paper for the pages.

Now I was trying to think of how I wanted the journal to be closed. Luckily, there was a piece of suede already cut and with the holes punched out to make the strap with!!! (Such a lucky find!) I had a suede-covered button in my stash and some gromets to I set off to attach them all!

Now obviously the stiching is a little wonky but overall it was a successful preject and I would gladly make another! (Maybe not with so many small pieces of suede though lol)! I hope you all try the tutorial! It makes journal making easy!!
