So my daughter (6yo) was bugging me to help her make a doll.  We finally downloaded a free pattern (I can try to find the site again if anyone is interested), and she cut out the pattern pieces, cut out the fabric, sewed it all together on the sewing machine (I helped a bit on the curves), turned the pieces right side out, stuffed them and sewed them together.  She then drew on the face and hand-stitched the hair on.  I helped her get started with the hand sewing, but overall, she did 95% of the work herself!  I am so proud of her!

Here is her doll - Betsy

And the proud momma with her dolly:

Thanks for looking!

She did a fantastic job! I'd be proud if I made a doll as great as Besty too!

that is really good, I really am impressed. My nearly 7 year old would sew his fingers to the machine if I let him try machine stitching so Im really impressed by your daughter. Tell her to keep on doll making, shes obviously got talent.

My first doll was made when I was 4 out of a block of wood.  Basically a lump of wood with a face drawn on it in felt pen and a dress. I called her Block Baby. My mum still has her and Im 35 now! Your daughter's betsy is waaaay better than my Block Baby!!!
