As a devoted lurker on these boards, Fiber Friday has long been something I look forward to!
Seems like summer has slowed us all down a little...

Allow me to get the ball rolling this week?

Some classic barber pole style wool, bulky. I hand painted the roving--I like the way the colors on this one came out.

A mix of wool, shredded cotton/sparkly scarf, merino, and recycled wool yarn (plied with crochet cotton)

Painted roving single, with recycled hippie skirt coils

Anybody else?

Oh wow, the colors and the combinations of different fibers are so lovely!!!  The bottom two are my absolute favorite.  I so wish I could knit or crochet, I'm feeling so inspired to learn right now though!!

Thanks, jillybeans! I really like re-using scraps of fabric in spinning; it's something I've been doing a lot of, lately.

And you should totally learn to knit or crochet. Everybody should!

very pretty!
anyone remember the roving i dyed with left over Easter Egg dye back in April?  I finally got around to spinning it up!  Here it is:

I'm calling it Easter Basket since it was dyed with egg dye, but I think it could also be called Crayon Box!   Cheesy  The colors are in no particular order, just how I grabbed them as I went.

So pretty! I love all three, but particularly the 2nd one!

Easter egg dye, why did I never think of that? It looks wonderful!

Miloknows, those yarns are stunning! I especially like the last two. I'm kind of on the same wavelength with recycled fabrics; I'm getting some strips of chiffon ready for an experiment I will do during Tour de Fleece, if I can wait that long.  Smiley

Puppy_girl, I do remember that roving! You did such a great job both with the dyeing and spinning it.

Here is mine. This is frogged and kettle-dyed yarn from a thrifted sweater. I'm going to use some of it as is, but some will be spun with other things to make accent yarns for weaving.

I took some of it and added extra twist while also auto-wrapping it with gold lurex. Then I plied it with a woolen yarn, and had fun doing random coils and turkish knots for texture. On the bobbin:

And on the swift:

Glad to see a Fiber Friday thread! Once the Tour starts, I hope to be unloading on y'all with a bunch of yarn pics. Grin

So, its not Friday anymore, but I thought I would show you the fruits of my fiber labors this week. I dyed up a bunch of roving, and I bought a book called Respect the Spindle by Abby Franquemont. Its all about drop spindles, and its pretty great. Just sayin'. lol.

Such pretty and creative yarns this week!!  I think you've inspired me to dust off my spinning wheel.  :-)
