I've been making clothes for myself for some time now, but lately I've been feeling rather discouraged.  I've gained a bit of weight, so I need to make some new things so I'll have something to wear to work, but the last couple of things I've tried haven't come out as I'd hoped.  I can probably still salvage them, but I'm not particularly enthused about it.  What can I do to encourage myself to get going on it again?

I have a horrible tendency to go thrift shopping to cheer myself up... LOL, not sure how helpful that is, but if your local thrifts have bag days or some such clearance sales, you could stock up on refashionables Cheesy You could even end up with awesome clothes that fit and flatter you just as they are!

Yeah, I think my biggest problem is that I feel like I have to do.  When it becomes a chore, it's not fun anymore!  Maybe I will go thrifting after work today.

I hit a slump like that, too. It helps to have some time away from the fabric stash and think hard about what you want. I did so much research to find what I wanted to change my wardrobe focus to since I gained weight and focused harder! Just some work on the basic sloper from when I was smaller and I now have patterns to make loads of basics from in any fabrics or colors I want.

Thrifting leads to more inspo, too. Modifying some larger Ts to something cuter is fun, too. Making a shrug from a T or a paperbag skirt from a larger button-down gives a basic jumpoff point. Also, with the changing seasons, lots of clearance everywhere. Macy's is going CRAZY with color this year with the Brazil theme (pinks, oranges, yellows. blues, greens, reds, monochrome... everything in the rainbow, honestly) and there's loads of super-reduced clearance there, ready for fun.

I found a short dress at the thrift store, and I'm going to trim it down into a shirt, since I don't wear short dresses and I desperately need more work shirts!  Thanks for your encouragement.
