Apparently I'm on a cardboard box kick lately.  Here's another little reconstructed project for the little guy.  If it wasn't so humid this evening, I would have set the projector up outside with a sheet!  Alas, we had a drive-in movie night in the family room.  He woke up from his nap and I had this little surprise setup for him.

Complete with shag carpet (a pillow), snacks (Cheerios, popcorn and water).  The snack tray is an old shower accessories holder.  I attached it with zip ties through the wall of the box.

Some unused bobbins as buttons/knobs and a set of toy keys for the dashboard.

License plate made from a shoebox lid, construction paper and felt stick-on letters.  Adhered with oodles of hot glue.  His bumper sticker is just a random puppy magnet I found in my stash.  Wheels are craft foam, cut into circles and CDs.

Movie's starting!

Happy guy

The steering wheel is from another toy.  I attached it with zip ties.

He has a Padiddle. Cheesy  I only had one push light in the junk drawer. Sad  I attached it with hot glue.

That is adorable!  I officially want you to adopt me so that I can take naps and wake up to an awesome drive-in.

Aww, you're the sweetest!

Love this age for total craft appreciation.  He is so inquisitive and excited for the projects.  I mean, really, he jumps up and down and CLAPS for craft projects.  Not getting any better than this. Cheesy

Wow, just saw this on facebook and love it so much.  You are such an inspiration.  What a wonderful thing to wake up to.  I love the snack caddy.

I can't wait until my daughter is old enough to make things like this for (and here's hoping when that time comes I'll have time for it).

Some days, I put out all the boxes that the food and produce are delivered in to the preschool out on the playground. The children invent all sorts of vehicles and many just sit and daydream.

While I love cool crafty gadgets and supplies, all you need is a cardboard box...

Great job, again.

This might be the kindest reply I've ever read.  Thank you for that. Smiley

Ooooh... a maze!!  *I* want one. Cheesy  He did ask if I can make an airplane this morning, so I kind of feel challenged now, hehe.

Wow, that is a great idea.  I think we'll head outdoors with a few boxes next time.  I can only imagine what he will "create" with boxes on the lawn.

Today we added some stickers to the back.  Grandma also donated another push light, so tomorrow we're doing "maintenance" on it with his tool set.

I absolutely love this! I wonder if my 10 year old son would be as amused? If I let him do it all on his own? We moved about 6 monts ago and still have some boxes we need to unpack, maybe we will do this... at least with my younger 2. I wonder if we have one my size?!

A Drive in Movie is a great theme for a birthday party too.  We did a Hannah Montana drive in theme for my daughters 10th birthday three years ago.  I got a ton of boxes and made car fronts and painted them.  When the guests came they made and decorated licence plates for them.  We brought out the big screen tv in the driveway and played the movie the kids had fun.  We are luckey enough to be one place that still have a drive in theather and it is all kids favorite place to go during the summer months

I love how younger children react with enthusiasm when you make them something. When he sees me, my cousin's five year old will ask "Did you make me something else, my Amber?"
