Selling PDF files-scans of vintage knitting and crochet patterns

 I just came across a shop on Etsy that is full of vintage 40's to 80s knitting and crochet PDF files.
They are claiming to own the "copyright" from these, but are labeled with names like Vogue, etc. I believe this is completely illegal- I have posted a knitting pattern photo here on craftster, just as a project, but never the entire pattern- let alone selling it! It is my understanding a work needs to be 82 years old to be public domain.
  Is is not true that one must sell the Original pattern and mail it- not send an electronic copy?

I'm not 100% positive but that doesn't sound legit to me. You can always report them to Etsy.
